Bengara is an iron-oxide pigment from the soil, used in Japan for centuries for textiles, pottery, and traditional architecture. Its warm, muted tones carry a sense of depth and history, reflecting its origins as a “soil dye.” Made through a process of refining iron-rich clay, Bengara is biodegradable, environmentally friendly, and requires far less water and energy than most conventional dyes. Unlike many plant-based pigments, it is remarkably resistant to fading, allowing its rich, earthy color to age beautifully with wear.
Note: Runs small. Most should take one sizes up from your typical tops size depending on how you want it to fit. Please double check measurements. These are one-washed so they should not shrink that much further, but if you use machine dry on high heat, or for prolonged periods you may experience additional shrinkage.
