Made from Japanese horsehide, The Flat Head's Double Rider's Leather Jacket features over the top details with its custom tanned teacore horsehide leather from Shinki Hikaku, to the D-pockets unique to Flat Head, and the steel buckles for a custom fit. No worries about mobility with the back action pleats. With time and dedication, you'll be rewarded with a beautiful jacket, faded and patina'd in all the right areas, and even the zip fasteners and steel buckles will fade with time.
The Flat Head's custom horsehide leather from Shinki is a semi-aniline finish that involves mixing dye and pigment, which is then applied to the leather surface in a black finish. The result is that natural wrinkles and marks on the hide are not entirely concealed, preserving the inherent texture and characteristics of this natural product. With wear, the surface will gradually wear off, revealing the brown core underneath and creating a contrast between the blacks and browns. This embodies the vintage leather style from the 1940s American leather jacket styles that The Flat Head sought to recreate.
